About the playback. True General MIDI playback needs a soundfont - tens of megabytes of recorded samples per instrument - so what you hear here is synthesised, not a recording. Guitars, pizzicato strings, and harp use real plucked-string synthesis (a delay-line string model, not just a waveform); violins, violas, cellos, basses, and flutes get vibrato, an attack-noise transient, and a body-resonance filter on top of their oscillator so they don't sound flat and static. It's still a synth voice, not a recorded instrument - good for checking notes, timing, and arrangement. The exported .mid carries the real GM program numbers, so it plays the actual instruments wherever you open it.
Click an empty cell to place a note, then drag right to set its length. Drag a note to move it, drag its right edge to resize, and right-click to delete. Space plays and stops. Notes on other tracks show dimmed behind the one you're editing. · 0 notes
Copying a beat: Shift-drag to select an area, Shift-click a note to add or remove just it. Drag any selected note to move the whole group. Ctrl+C copies, Ctrl+V pastes right after it (repeat it to tile forward), and Delete clears a selection. Or skip copy/paste entirely and Alt-drag any note (or selection) to duplicate and place it in one motion.
